Aithinne is able to restore Aileana’s memories and with that comes the memory of what the Cailleach told her before dying, that she needs to find The Book of Remembrance. Baffled by this new Aileana, Derrick brings her to Aithinne’s camp where she is with Catherine, Daniel, and Gavin. As she’s pondering the meaning of these powers she has her faithful companion, the pixie Derrick finds her.

Who is she? Why is she crawling out of the dirt? Where is she? As she encounters enemy fae on the prowl she begins to sense the powers within her and kills them all. As Aileana crawls out of the dirt she realizes she has no memory, of anything, anyone. Book two ended with her taking a deal from the Cailleach: the Cailleach would resurrect her and put her own powers into Aileana, but the powers were going to kill her unless she could find a way to break Aithinne and Kiaran’s curse. The Fallen Kingdom opens with Aileana crawling out of the dirt. So go read book one and book two first (and then my reviews of them! Click for 1, 2). Well, no, not quite fresh from finishing. Once again I am writing this post fresh from finishing the book. It’s three books by her and one other book – she’s holding down the majority handily… but hey! she writes well. My blog is basically an Elizabeth May fan blog at this point.
